What is a comment-to-DM funnel on Instagram?

You ask viewers to comment a keyword, such as PROMPTS, under a Reel or post. Everyone who does gets a direct message with what you promised. It replaces 'link in bio': the link arrives in the inbox of the person who asked for it, and every comment also lifts the post's engagement.

Why does the first DM have a button instead of the link?

Instagram lets a business send exactly one private reply to a comment, and it may only keep messaging the person after they respond. The button is that response: when the viewer taps it, Instagram opens a 24-hour window, and the second message with the link can be sent. Sending the link straight away is not possible through the official API.

How long can the messages be?

Each DM with a button can be up to 640 characters. Button labels should stay within 20 characters; Instagram cuts off anything longer. The generator counts both as you type.
